actually the US is not in a technical recession -- but don’t worry! i’m not one of those delusional fellas saying that everything’s alright with the economy!
since 1978 (i believe), a recession is only formally declared when a group of economists related to the govt say so. since then, coincidentally, they’ve said so during periods that coincide with six months of negative gdp growth. and so this has been taken as the informal definition.
but either way, economy isn’t doing well, and this was a nice read!
