Everyone gets paid at a $20B valuation. Groq’s full cap table wins: 85% paid upfront, the rest by end-2026. ~90% of employees (~550 people) move to Nvidia, making this one of the largest acquihires ever. That comes to about ~$36M per employee.
The real asset isn’t hardware, it’s patents. Nvidia effectively acquires a patent arsenal around SRAM-based inference. Expect those patents to be weaponized via NPEs (patent trolls), creating a legal “scorched-earth” zone. Nvidia is licensed and protected, competitors risk lawsuits or high licensing fees.
GroqCloud is hollowed out. Only ~10% of staff (50–70 people) remain. No core IP, no technical leadership, CEO and president gone, CFO running ops. The business shifts from innovation to keeping the lights on, but eventually Groqcloud may close
Customers face uncertainty. GroqCloud still supports 2.5M developers, projected $500M 2025 revenue, and major deals (Saudi $1.5B data center, Meta/Llama, IBM watsonx). But with the builders gone, who ships new features or integrations?
